Bowes Park finally gets the recognition it deserves!
On the 21st February "Homes and Property" The Evening Standard's property supplement that comes out every Wednesday featured a spotlight on Bowes Park (although it did share the honour with Wood Green and Bounds Green).
This piece focuses on up and coming areas and communities around London and finally there has been recognition of what we known all along which is that Bowes Park has a lot to offer with great transport links, interesting properties, green spaces and of course now The Step (which gets a mention!).

Finsbury Gardens revamp means no Bowes Park Festival this year
As you may have noticed, Finsbury Gardens is currently closed and being dug up. Although it's all looking a bit agricultural at the moment, this is actually very exciting.
Over the last year or so the Friends of Finsbury Gardens have secured enough Lottery money to renovate the ballcourt, replace some of the fencing and also do some quite interesting landscaping and planting as well as other improvements.
Most of the work will be happening in May, but due to one or two delays and things like the weather and the hosepipe ban, it's looking likely that the new, improved Finsbury Gardens won't be ready in time for a festival this year, so we're sorry to say that this year's Bowes Park Festival in Finsbury Gardens has been called off.
We are intending to have a small opening event in September, but even then it's likely parts of the gardens will still be fenced off to allow the new grass time to get properly established. On the plus side, it looks like we already have the funding in place for a great festival next year in a greatly improved FG!

The Big Lunch - Sunday 3rd June 2012
The Big Lunch is scheduled for Sunday 3rd June this year to coincide with the Jubilee weekend. The BPCA hopes that people who live in this area will use this opportunity to get to know their neighbours by having a lunch either in the street in the form of a street party if appropriate, in the park or at someone's house or flat. It is up to you. Haringey is even waiving its fee for closing roads this weekend so don't miss this opportunity. For more information click here to go to our events page.
