Ideas for improvements to Bounds Green Junction
You can help!
Ideas are needed for improvements to the Bounds Green
Junction. At our recent AGM. Matt Cooke (Labour Councillor for Bounds Green,
Haringey Ward) talked about the need for residents to give their ideas about
improvements to the Bounds Green Junction by the tube station and the need to
ask for more government funding for this project. He provided leaflets which you
can download, complete and return to him by FREEPOST. We recommend that you download the
leaflet (in .pdf format) and print it off by going to Cllr Cooke's own website by
clicking here.

Alternatively, if you do not want to download the .pdf format
of the form from Cllr Matt Cooke's own website you can see a scanned image of
both the front and reverse of the form by clicking each of the two thumbnails

Calmer Streets
We were delighted to hear in December that Haringey has
made a successful bid to Transport for London for £400,000 to calm
traffic in the Bowes Park area. The Bowes Park Community Association (BPCA) has been lobbying for over
four years to try to do something about the 'rat running', speeding, road
rage and collisions that happen every day on our roads.
Some traffic calming measures were installed during the summer of 2005.
There has been little effect on the rat running, which continues to impact
on the quality of life of
Bowes
Park
residents.

But No Safe Crossing Yet...
We can’t give you such good news on the pedestrian
crossing on the A406. This work has been postponed until a decision is
made on the A406.
Do you live in the north of Bowes Park? Do your children go to Bowes or
Broomfield Schools? Do you walk to Broomfield Park or Palmers Green? Do
you use the 184, 299 or 102 buses? If you answer yes to any of these
questions, there is a good chance that you or your family has tried to
cross the road at this junction where the A406 meets Brownlow Road. That
there is no pedestrian crossing is a disgrace.
Transport for London is responsible for the road and the road crossings.
They told us that nothing will be done until a decision has been made
about the A406, because until then it would be uneconomical to give
pedestrians a safe crossing. If you feel strongly about this contact The

Management, Windsor House, 42-50 Victoria House, London SW1H 0TL
