Traffic

Traffic has always been an issue in the Bowes Park area. Our position between two sides of the A406 has meant that through traffic using the area as a rat run had reached very high levels especially on Whittington Road over the last couple of years.

After a great deal of pressure from the Bowes Park Association a number of traffic calming measures were introduced and after consultation the end of Whittington Road was made a no left hand turn.

The traffic through Whittington Road has reduced greatly and overall the traffic in the area also seems to have been reduced.

The remaining traffic has undoubtedly moved to go through Palmerston, Truro and Clarence and efforts have been made to slow this down and make this route unattractive as a short cut but inevitably some traffic remains.

The key issue that still remains seems to be the type of traffic going through Bowes Park and there are lorries that are over the weight limit allowed that are driving too fast causing a lot of noise and potentially structural issues to those people living in Palmerston, Truro and Clarence.

We are committed to examining all options and working with Haringey to carry on the work to make this area safer, less congested and reduce the impact that traffic has on our lives and properties.

Please get in touch if you have an issue you would like to raise or if you would like to be a committee member specifically looking at traffic issues in the area.
