Ten Reasons to Join the BPCA

1. Preserve Bowes Park heritage:

The distinctive architectural heritage of Bowes Park is protected through monitoring and commenting on planning applications, and keeping an eye out for unauthorised works.

2. Improve Myddleton Road:

Myddleton Road has improved lighting, pavements, timber planters and shop awnings and there are other plans ahead to regenerate this late Victorian street.

3. Community gardens for all:

A beautifully maintained Community Garden in Myddleton Road is open to all residents and workers – a safe place for small children to play. Finsbury Diggers keep Finsbury Gardens and surrounding beds looking blooming good.

4. Events for all the family:

There is an annual Summer Picnic in the Community Garden, and a Festival in Finsbury Gardens with music, games and entertainment.

5. Make new friends:

You can meet new people, or have fun with old friends, at quiz nights, barn dances, planting sessions, cake sales and Christmas Carol singing.

6. Explore London

The walking group offers an opportunity to explore many different parts of London and the nearby countryside. The artistically inclined can join the art group on museum visits and trips out of London. The community choir is open to all and sings every Thursday.

7. Twice-yearly newsletter and useful website:

An attractive newsletter, full of local information and events is distributed free to 4000 homes/workplaces. The website has news and events, history and local information.

8. Help the environment:

Freecycle Days and the Sustainable Bowes Park group work to make this a more environment friendly place to live.

9. Keep our neighbourhood clean and tidy:

The area is kept cleaner by volunteers who pick up litter and people who report fly tipping. It is kept safer by close liaison with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team.

10. Gym and play facilities:

Myddleton Road has an outdoor gym and table tennis table you can all use free and in Finsbury Gardens there will be a new ball play area and new mounds and log features.
