1. Preserve Bowes Park heritage
The distinctive architectural heritage of Bowes Park is protected through monitoring and commenting on planning applications, and keeping an eye out for unauthorised works.
2. Improve Myddleton Road
Myddleton Road has improved lighting, pavements, timber planters, shop awnings, many new shops, and a monthly street market. It won a national award for Best London High Street!
3. Community gardens for all
A beautifully maintained community garden in Myddleton Road is open to all residents and workers – a safe place for small children to play. Local residents also keep Finsbury Gardens looking good.
4. Events for all the family
There is an annual summer picnic in the community garden, and a festival in Finsbury Gardens with music, games and entertainment.
5. Make new friends
You can meet new people, or have fun with old friends, at quiz nights, barn dances, planting sessions, cake sales and Christmas carol singing.
6. Explore London and its hinterland with the Walking Group. The artistically inclined can join the Art Group on museum visits and trips out of London. The Community Choir is open to all and sings every Thursday.
7. Twice-yearly newsletter and useful website
An attractive newsletter, full of local information and events is distributed free to 4000 homes/workplaces. The website has news and events, history and local information.
8. Help the environment
The Association supports sustainability projects to make this a more environment friendly place to live. Herbs were planted on Bowes Park station.
9. Keep our neighbourhood clean and tidy
The area is kept cleaner by volunteers who pick up litter and people who report fly tipping. It is kept safer by close liaison with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
10. Gym and play facilities
The Association had grants for the outdoor gym and table tennis table on Myddleton Road which is open to all, and for a new ball play area and landscaping in Finsbury Gardens. It worked with Enfield Council to create the Green Space in Russell Road.
Annual membership of the BPCA costs £10 for individuals (£2 concession) and £15 for households (£4 concession).
