128 Myddleton Road

Bowes Park Community Association has always wanted to have a place to meet and organise events in Myddleton Road. We’re pleased to announce that - as part of the Myddleton Road Renewal programme - Haringey Council have agreed to pay the lease on a property for one year so that our community association can finally have a home on Myddleton Road.

Councillor Matt Cooke cuts the cake at the launch of onetwoeight in May:

I am sure that by now many of you will have heard about, or have visited, onetwoeight  -our community space at 128 Myddleton Road. BPCA has been working in partnership with the Council Neighbourhood and Regeneration teams for several years to try to bring about positive change on this street located in the heart of our community. The creation of onetwoeight comes as part of a programme of improvement and is funded for one year which will take us through until May 2011.
As you will see, there has been a great response in the first few months and many people have set up groups and are full of ideas for more activities. BPCA will try to secure funding so that onetwoeight becomes a permanent addition to our community. The Bowes Park area has a terrific volunteering spirit but we do not want to wear people out so we have applied for short term funding to help with coordination and outreach work -to ensure that we involve everyone in the area. If onetwoeight is to be viable in the longer term, we will need someone to take on the coordination and development.

If you have any time to help with writing funding bids, volunteering, running events or helping in any way to get things going let us know. All ideas for activities are welcome. If you want more information or can help contact Catherine by clicking here.

This is the result of much work in partnership with the local authority and others and the creation of OneTwoEight comes as part of a programme of work that has already invested in new pavements, lighting, and parking arrangements and will soon bring flower beds, more trees and other improvements to the look of the street. These will include reducing satellite dishes, repositioning shutters and adding some awnings to certain shops to cheer things up.
